I decided to create a Valentine’s Day skincare gift Guide for all you fellow mums out there, like me, not expecting to receive anything for Valentine’s Day.
I live in a household FULL of males. Even all our pets are male. Considering I would class myself as quite girly, I’m not entirely sure how my life has worked as it has, but quite honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way. Consequently, the thought of receiving anything for Valentine’s Day doesn’t enter my head!
Valentine’s Day, however, is just around the corner and I figured why not create a list of skincare products that maybe, just maybe, we might consider buying for ourselves?! On the other hand, you may well have a skincare lover in your life that you do want to buy a Valentine’s Day skincare gift……and if so, I have you covered!
Let’s jump right into this Valentine’s Day gift guide…..

1. Beautifect Spa Headband
I can’t believe I don’t have one of these. I’ve decided my hand no longer cuts the mustard in holding my hair back from my face, and I would now like both my hands to splash water.
This has a comfortable and flexible elasticated band, and the premium and durable fabric is soft on your skin and hair, preventing breakage and friction.
2. Tatcha Aburatorigami Blotting Papers
I remember using blotting papers when I was younger and I have no idea why I’ve not thought of using them recently!?
If you struggle with oily skin, like I have done, blot away the shine with these blotting papers. Soft leaflets (that’s what they are called – they’re really rectangular bits of paper) made of 100% natural abaca leaf and gold flakes that absorb excess oil without disturbing makeup.
They work amazingly well and the reviews reflect this.
3. Eclat Skin London Facial Steamer
I’m going for it. This is the “one” product (we all know there’ll be more!) that I’m getting on this list. You’ll get a massive save with this on Sephora. Right now it’s £189 down to £49.99 and that’s too good a bargain to walk away from.
So many hours I’ve spent with my head over a bowl of hot water trying to clear my nose from a snotty cold, only to have the unintended (but welcomed) super clean and soft skin. As it happens I was decongesting my pores as well as my sinuses!
Just 10 minutes with a facial steamer will leave the oil inside the pores and the surface of the skin easier to remove, due to them being softened. This leads to a better absorption of your skincare ingredients.
Why not just stick with a bowl and towel? Well, a nano facial cleanser has finer steam particles that penetrate deeper into the outer layer of the skin.
4. L’Occitane Almond Discovery Collection
I love all things almond-based: marzipan, Bakewell tarts, my Method almond floor cleaner, almonds…..all of it! Include into that list the L’Occitane almond range. They are such a treat to use and smell divine.
Talking of the smell, it’s not got an overly almond smell, if almonds aren’t your thing. It’s fragranced with sweet almond blossom which gives it that sweeter, flowery smell, then say……a lump of marzipan!
L’Occitane do some great gift sets and this cute little set includes:
– L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil 75ml
– L’Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate 20ml
– L’Occitane Almond Soap 50g
– L’Occitane Almond Delicious Hands 10ml
– L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil 15ml
If you’re anything like me, you need to spend some time on the skin on your body……not just your face. Here’s a post on why this is so important for us.

5. MARIO BADESCU Spritz. Mist. Glow Set
Facial mist sprays can be sprayed onto the face for various benefits. They typically contain water along with other hydrating and soothing ingredients like aloe vera, glycerin, or botanical extracts.
Facial mists provide a quick burst of hydration, help set makeup, and can be used to refresh and awaken the skin throughout the day. Some claim facial mist sprays also help prep skin for better absorption of subsequent skincare products.
This iconic range of facial mists contains:
– Facial spray with aloe, cucumber and green tea
– Facial spray with aloe, chamomile and lavender
– Facial spray with aloe, herbs and rosewater
All three have their unique capabilities which you can use depending on your skin’s need that day
Facial sprays are amazing to spritz on your face during exercise. Have a read of this post to see why what you use on your skin during exercise is quite important…….

6. Evolve Beauty Bio-Retinol Gold Mask
I will try to not put an Evolve clean beauty product in every single gift guide I do, but I can’t promise anything!
I think this is perfect as a Valentine’s Day skincare gift – it’s all golden!! Don’t go thinking they have added skin-unfriendly glitter to this product though (it gave me a bit of a fright when I first opened it!)…….it’s responsibly sourced Mica that exhibits natural gold-like effects resembling the appearance of pure gold. So gorgeous!
Other notable ingredients include:
– Bidens Pilosa, which provides similar effects to retinol by increasing collagen production, reducing the production of free radicals, and creating a skin-lightening effect. It improves elasticity to your skin, and smoothes and plumps wrinkles.
– Organic Rosehip Oil that is rich in essential fatty acids omega-6 and omega-3 to keep skin hydrated. It is rich in bio-retinol which helps promote cellular renewal and improves the appearance of scars. Incidentally, bio-retinol is a plant-based naturally occurring derivative of vitamin A that binds to various retinoic acid receptors and in the case of rosehip oil, this comes from the carotenoids.
– Organic Argan Oil that is high in vitamin E and fatty acids. It is easily absorbed and highly moisturising, which helps to improve elasticity and leaves skin feeling plump and soft.
This is a perfect alternative to retinol if that’s not a path you want to go down, and I included it in my Exploring Safe Retinol Alternatives During Pregnancy post

8. BAGSMART Toiletry Bag
This is on my wish list. It looks gorgeous but also looks so practical. If your current washbag is not fit for purpose for your level of toiletries (like mine!), this will fit the bill.
It comes in a choice of muted pink, turquoise blue and black. I’m struggling to decide which colour to go with, but I’m leaning towards black with gold. There’s no doubt I will go for the large, but it does also come in a medium size.
The ratings are very high and the comments all note how practical, roomy and stylish it is.
9. COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
I think this might be one of those “I will if you will” moments!! It may not look or sound like a stylish Valentine’s Day skincare present, but this on-trend skincare product does pack a punch.
I’m not going to recommend something unless there is evidence to back up its claims (evidence-based practice has been drummed into me since I was 18), and there is indeed evidence in the case of this ingredient.
A 2013 study evaluated the safety and efficacy of a topical antiphotoaging product containing secretions of the snail Cryptomphalus Aspersa (SCA) for the improvement of facial rhytides (the medical word for wrinkles).
The results showed a:
- “daily application of topical products containing SCA proved effective and well tolerated for improvement in coarse periocular rhytides (crow’s feet) and fine facial rhytides (general fine lines). Subjects noted a significant degree of improvement in fine lines at the 8-week time point on the SCA-treated side but did not report a significant difference in the quality of their skin.”
It works! And it doesn’t just work on our “rhytides” (wrinkles, just in case you’re not paying attention!) but also on plenty more issues like dry patches and acne breakouts.
I’ve written myself into this……it’s in the shopping bag!
7. Nailberry L’Oxygéné Breathable Luxury Nail Polish
I’m not brilliant with my nails. I’ve got to say in the great sphere of beauty, nails are the bottom of the pile. I do like to spend a bit of time on them when I’m not working, and as they will still be kept short I’m perfectly happy to paint them myself.
Now the reason I have included a nail varnish in this skincare list is due to the healthier format of this brand. They have omitted five of the major chemicals usually found in nail varnish, allowing air and moisture to still get through, thereby keeping the nails healthy.
I’ve seen so many nails that are dry and damaged, leading to painful skin under the nails, so this is the only brand I will ever use.
I haven’t got a huge amount (barely any!) of expertise to comment on this but for a home manicure with normal nail varnish, this product is the knees of the bees! It stays unchipped for a good week.
Plus, how gorgeous are the bottles?!

10. Stanley Quencher H2.O FlowState™ Tumbler
Is this a good fit for a Valentine’s Day skincare gift list? Why yes……yes it is!
Any skincare lover knows rule no. 1 (or maybe no.3…..it’s high up there anyway), is to keep yourself hydrated. Hydration improves the elasticity of the skin, which in turn reduces the appearance and fine lines – it plumps you from the inside out.
If you’re anything like me, who struggles to remember to drink plenty, I need plenty of assistance in my life to remind me. This is the latest in drink bottles to get a huge fan base and I have to say, it ticks all of my boxes:
- No plastic holding the liquid
- Flip-top spout by a button (rather than having to use my potentially germy hands……thanks COVID!!)
- Keeps liquids cold/hot for hours
- Holds a large volume
- Really pretty colours (yes, I’m shallow!)
If keeping hydrated was on your New Year’s goal list, this may just be the (gorgeous) drink bottle to do the job.

11. 4 Pairs Wrist Washband Wash Set
Why did I assume I was the only one who had this issue? As if I was the only one who had wrists and gravity involved when washing my face!
Naturally, someone clever out there came up with the idea of having an elasticated chunky towel wrapped around the wrists and a gazillion Amazon advertisers are selling them.
This is a genius solution to a problem, that drives me up the wall: water running down my arms when cleansing my face, making the cuffs of my sleeves annoyingly soggy. Don’t you just love these cheap little beauty gifts that make a world of difference?
Anyone else get me?
Sure you do…….treat yourself to these!!

12. LAWLESS Forget The Filler Overnight Lip Plumping Mask
Dry lips? Well, I don’t tend to struggle with this, but this winter….whoa!! I know most of us are the same at this time of year – the air is much drier and then add on the colder temperature and winds. It’s not pleasant.
What sets this lip mask apart from others is the unique ingredients that make up a combo ingredient called “MaxiLip” which uses a peptide to produce collagen and hyaluronic acid synthesis in the skin. It has been shown over time to increase collagen by 351%.
It also nourishes the skin barrier with restorative ceramides, plumps with eight different forms and weights of hyaluronic acid and then seals it all in with shea butter.
If you need more convincing, this is the article that sold it to me
13. Everything Is Better In Pink Collagen Boosting Eye Masks
Such a cute little Valentine’s Day skincare present and perfect for that much-needed self-care “me-time” you have planned.
These mini masks for the eyes contain the seaweed chondrus crispus which contains antioxidants to protect your skin from blue light exposure.
There is also glycerin for hydration, palmitoyl tripeptide-5 to boost collagen production, horse chestnut for blood circulation and getting rid of dark circles and finally fructose for extra moisture retention.

14. NEOM Real Luxury Magnesium Bath Milk
Is there any other brand quite as synonymous with indulgent self-care as NEOM?
This aromatherapy brand brought out 2 Bath Milk products last September, both with 100% natural fragrances using only the purest possible essential oils, blended with organic oils.
The Scent to Sleep Bath Milk contains Lavender, Chamomile, Patchouli, Jasmine, Sweet Basil, Lavandin and Cedarwood, and the De-Stress Bath Milk contains Jasmine, Sandalwood and Clove Bud
As well as these essential oils, these milks are also infused with magnesium which has a direct effect on tired muscles anywhere on the body. There are also organic jojoba, argan and olive oils which are packed with antioxidants and vitamins to soothe and smooth your skin. If all of that wasn’t enough there is also Aloe Vera.
I’m quite sure Cleopatra would have chosen this bath milk over goat milk had it been available for her
15. Temple Spring Bath Tray
Finally, with all these products you’ve got from your Valentine’s Day skincare haul, you’re going to want somewhere to corral them all while you’re enjoying you’re well-earned “me-time” in the bath. How about this bath caddy?
It’s got everything, you could possibly need in a bath tray, including that all-important easy-access wine glass holder.
I just love the colour of this bamboo wood. It just gives off a more sophisticated vibe than the lighter colour woods you normally see.
